Camden Square Ward residents may have been a little surprised this morning, when they saw that their councillor Danny Beales is busy talking to voters in... Yiewsley, Hillingdon. Local Conservatives have been especially concerned, as the litter has been piling up in Camden Square Ward. But where has Cllr Beales been? Litter picking, yes - but in South Ruislip...
This of course, is because Cllr Danny Beales has been selected to be the Labour candidate for Uxbridge and South Ruislip at the next parliamentary election. And whilst we would like to extend our congratulations to Cllr Beales, Camden Square voters would be right to feel a bit miffed, as they voted for Beale to represent them on Camden Council, less than nine months ago. And of course, he receives an allowance for doing so.
Suffering under Labour since 2010, Camden has one of the worst records for fly-tipping in the country. Local Conservatives have been busy calling for more bin collections, and haven't been scared to organise our own litter-picks, to compensate for the Council's poor job.
So today, whilst Cllr Beales was on the other side of London, Holborn & St Pancras Conservatives rolled our sleeves up and collected litter all around Camden Square. Of particular concern, were the three 640g cannisters of nitrous oxide we found hidden in and around the grounds of the Playcentre - likely to have been used recreationally. Camden Council bin collectors told us they refuse to take them; so we had to take and hand them in person to the Kentish Town Police Station.
We're happy to have been of assistance to Camden Square residents today - but surely, this should be Cllr Beales' job, instead of trying to convince Uxbridge & South Ruislip voters that they can put their trust in him. Our advice to them is: look at his record here...
