Highgate ward is the most northern ward in the borough of Camden, and part of the parliamentary constituency of Holborn & St Pancras. Broadly it covers Dartmouth Park, Holly Lodge Estate, Highgate New Town and that part of Highgate village south of Highgate Hill and Hampstead Lane.
Highgate village is unusual for marking the meeting point of three London boroughs (Haringey, Islington and Camden) and being divided between three constituencies (Holborn & St Pancras, Islington North and Hornsey & Wood Green).
Originally a small village outside London, today Highgate is relatively close to the centre of the city but feels very suburban (with tennis courts and a bowling green). The ward includes a chunk of Hampstead Heath as well as Highgate Cemetery and Waterlow Park. It has many community groups including the Highgate Society, Transition Highgate and the Highgate Scientific and Literary Institution.
The ward is currently represented on Camden council by two Labour and one Green, but has had Conservative councillors in the past.
Paul Farrow is the ward chair and has lived in the ward since 2006. He is working to make the ward both more active politically and more social.
