Bloomsbury, Kings Cross and Holborn & Covent Garden are the southernmost wards in the parliamentary constituency of Holborn and St Pancras. Pierre Andrews is our chair for all 3 wards and is working hard to make the area more active politically and socially.
Of these three, Kings Cross is the northernmost and the smallest ward. However it is also the most densely populated ward in the London Borough of Camden. Notable places in Kings Cross ward include Coram's Fields, St Pancras Church, Camden Town Hall, the Kings Cross Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre, and the UCL School of Pharmacy. It is roughly bordered by Guildford Street to the south, Kings Cross Road/the A201 to the north-east, Euston road to the north-west and Upper-Woburn Place, Tavistock Place and Brunswick Square to the south. Despite its name, Kings Cross ward does not actually cover the Kings Cross train station; rather, they are both named after a monument to King George IV which stood from 1830 to 1845 at the 'king's crossroads' where Euston Road, Gray's Inn Road and Pentonville Road meet. Despite the monument no longer existing, the area has kept the name ever since.
Bloomsbury ward is the second largest of the three southern wards, covering the London landmarks of the British Museum, the University of London headquarters Senate House, and the BT Tower, as well as the university campus of Russell Square, which includes University College London, Birkbeck College, SOAS, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The ward is roughly bordered by Euston Street to the north-west, Upper Woburn Place and Southampton Row to the north-east, Cleveland Street to the south-west and Great Russell Street to the south-east. The ward is named after the historic parish of St Giles in the Fields and St George Bloomsbury, which the ward actually shares in covering with Kings Cross and Holborn & Covent Garden.
The largest of the three southern wards in Holborn & St Pancras is Holborn & Covent Garden. It is the southernmost ward in the whole parliamentary constituency, and in the Borough of Camden. It includes Lincoln's Inn Fields (and therefore part of the London School of Economics and Political Science), Gray's Inn, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Sir John Soane's Museum, Drury Lane and part of Theatreland, and Seven Dials. To the south-east is the City of Westminster, and to the west is the City of London. The ward is named after the ancient parish of St Andrew Holborn, which is also partly covered by the ward of Farringdon Without in the City of London; as well as after the iconic Covent Garden district, one of the most popular shopping and tourism sites in London.
